Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu today chaired a meeting with principals of women’s colleges of Delhi University to review the safety and security of students around college campuses and transit routes.
Senior officers of Delhi Police, Transport Department, Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Delhi Metro were also present during the meeting.
The most common concerns outlined by the Principals and others were unsafe last-mile connectivity, e-rickshaws, encroached footpaths, unregulated vending, dark spots, inadequate lighting.
Other agendas included correcting unsafe parks near campuses, public toilets near campuses, obscene flashing, requirement of more Pink Booths and patrolling.
