Delhi Assembly resumes discussion on CAG report related to liquor policy.

Delhi Assembly today resumed discussion on the CAG report related to the liquor policy of the previous Aam Aadmi Party government. Initiating the discussion, BJP MLA from Malviya Nagar, Satish Upadhyay said, the report revealed that the scrapped liquor policy implemented in 2021 caused a revenue loss of over two thousand crore rupees to the government exchequer.

He said the norms and tender process were violated during the awarding of licences. Mr Upadhyay asserted that the  BJP government has zero tolerance against corruption. Another BJP MLA  Shikha Roy demanded that the investigation must be conducted based on the CAG report and action must be taken against the guilty in this matter.

The report which was tabled in the Delhi Assembly by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta two days back flagged several discrepancies in the way the City Excise Department monitored and regulated the supply of Liquor in the national capital.

It found violations in the awarding of licenses to wholesalers, retailers, hotels, clubs and restaurants.
