Nipah virus. NCDC reaches Keralam’s Kozhikode to review the containment measures.

In the wake of the Nipah outbreak in Keralam, experts from the National Centre for Disease Control reached Kozhikode district today to review the containment measures.

A 43-year-old man from Ramanattukara, who tested positive for the Nipah virus, is undergoing ventilator support at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

The first dose of monoclonal antibody treatment has been administered to the patient following the recommendation of the Medical Board.

Health Minister K. Muralidharan said in Thiruvananthapuram today that there has been no further spread of the Nipah virus, and all test results received so far from individuals on the contact list have returned negative.

A total of 87 people have been included in the patient’s contact list. Authorities have intensified surveillance and preventive measures in the affected areas.
