In Bihar, political parleys have intensified in Patna as cracks widen in the ruling Alliance. To discuss the present political scenario, RJD has convened an important meeting of its senior leaders and legislators this afternoon while BJP is to have the meeting in the evening. JD(U) will also hold a meeting of its legislators and MPs tomorrow. The situation has arisen due to conflict on several issues between the ruling JD(U) and RJD. It includes the recent apparent attack by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on RJD Chief Lalu Prasad on dynastic politics, delay in seat sharing among INDIA alliance constituents and lack of coordination among ruling alliance partners in Bihar.
JD(U) President Nitish Kumar and RJD Chief Lalu Prasad have held several rounds of meetings of its senior leaders, close aides and MLAs in the wake of the prevailing political situation in the State.
Due to ongoing political upheaval, the BJP high command has also intervened in the episode and held meetings with its State party President Samrat Choudhary, part State in-charge Vinod Tawde and other senior leaders twice in New Delhi.
In Bihar, brainstorming is underway among major political parties BJP, RJD and JD(U) amid political uncertainty in the ruling Grand Alliance. Speculations are rife that in a couple of days, the alliance led by RJD-JD(U) in Bihar may collapse and new political equations will emerge. BJP, JD(U) and RJD are working on their options for future course of action including a stake in the formation of a new government in the state. On the other hand ally of RJD and JD(U), Congress has said that it is watching the situation closely and, take its decision accordingly.
In the 243-member Bihar Legislative Assembly, the number required for the formation of government is 122. Presently, the Grand Alliance government has support of 160 members which includes 79 of RJD, 45 of JD(U) and 19 members of Congress. 16 MLAs of Left Parties and One Independent are also supporting the Grand Alliance government. 78 members of BJP and 04 members of Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) are part of NDA. One MLA of AIMIM is not part of any of the segments.
