India’s equity benchmark indices registered record high closing levels in today’s trading session amid positive global cues. Both the indices hit their fresh all-time highs with the BSE Sensex crossing 83,000 level mark and the NSE Nifty at 25,433 in the intra-day trade.
At the closing bell, the Sensex, which is pack of 30 companies, surged 1,439 points or 1.7 percent, at 82,962 and the NSE Nifty was up 470 points at 25,388 with a gain of nearly two percent.
In the NSE, 139 companies hit their 52 week high, 28 hit their 52 week low. In the broader market at the BSE, Mid-Cap gained more than one percent and Small-Cap indices added nearly one percent. In the Sensex index, except Nestle India, which suffered a marginal loss around 0.1 percent, all other 29 out of 30 companies registered gain.
The top gainers today were, Bharti Airtel added more than four percent, NTPC nearly four percent, and Mahindra and Mahindra more than three percent. In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, all 20 sectors ended in positive territory.
The top gainers today were, Metal more than three percent, Telecommunications more than two and half percent and Teck as well as Power increased more than two percent.
The overall market breadth at the BSE was positive as out of 4,069 Companies, shares of 2,337 Companies advanced, 1,609 declined and 123 remain unchanged.
