Govt aims to set-up one medical college in every district of the country: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre built on an approximately 50 acres area at Mullanpur in S A S Nagar district of Punjab to the nation. He was accompanied by Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Union Minister Jeetendra Singh and AnandpurSahib MP Manish Tiwari. Prime Minister also met the patients in the hospital after inaugurating the cancer hospital.

The 300 bedded state of the art Homi Bhabha cancer hospital and research center built at a cost of approximately 684 crore rupees would bolster the cost effective cancer treatment in the State and it would also provide cancer treatment facility to the people of Northern India.

Before inaugurating Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, PM said,  Punjab is the land of freedom fighters, revolutionaries and of people with national spirit. He said that this has been reflected during the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign. PM Modi also thanked the people for making the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign a success.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Amrita Hospital in Faridabad district of Haryana today. Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.  

Managed by Mata Amritanandamayi Math, the super-speciality hospital will be equipped with 2,600 beds. The hospital, which is being constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs. 6000 crores, will provide state-of-the-art healthcare facilities to the people of Faridabad and the entire NCR region.  

The hospital, founded by Mata Amritanandamayi ‘Amma’, is the largest and state-of-the-art hospital in the region. Haryana Chief Minister said that with the opening of this hospital, not only the health facilities available to the people of the state will increase but people from neighbouring states will also be benefited.

While inaugurating Amrita Hospital at Faridabad in Haryana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed that the combination of technology and modernization will lead to the country’s progress in the healthcare sector. Mr Modi said, healthcare service delivery through spiritual and social institutions is an age-old example of a PPP model. He said, this model helps reach the grassroots and ensures upliftment in the remotest parts of the country. Prime minister highlighted Community efforts and thoughts of the country have been unified during Amrit Mahotsav.

PM Modi said India is a country where healthcare and spirituality are closely linked, Mr Modi said traditional Ayurveda doctors were given the title of Maharishis for their contribution to healthcare in the country. Prime minister also underlined the  selfless service is an important pillar of the work being done by Amma.

Mr Modi said, with the spirit of Sabka Prayas, India was able to run the world’s largest vaccination drive successfully.

Mr Modi said, COVID is an example of a successful spiritual-private partnership which helped in creating awareness and helped the nation implement the world’s largest vaccination drive.

He said, today the country is on a mission mode to transform its education and medical sectors.

The Prime Minister also remarked on the Made in India vaccine, and the kind of propaganda that was unleashed by some people. As a result, many kinds of rumors started spreading in the society.

The PM further added that when the religious leaders and the spiritual teachers of the society came together and asked the people not to pay heed to the rumors, the effect was immediate. India did not face the kind of vaccine hesitancy as seen in other countries

Haryana Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said, it’s a 2600 bedded hospital. He said, 500 beds will be in ICU. The Chief minister said  it’s the biggest hospital in the country. Earlier, there were only seven medical colleges in Haryana but now there are 13 colleges and nine are in pipeline. He announced that each district will have one medical college.
