Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been granted a 21-day furlough for meeting his family residing in Gurugram.
The Dera chief, who was convicted in a murder case and a rape case, is undergoing imprisonment at Sunaria jail in Rohtak, Haryana.
AIR correspondent reports, the Dera chief had applied for furlough to the Superintendent of Sunaria jail. The recommendation of Deputy Commissioner and Gurugram Police Commissioner was sought and he was granted furlough after the recommendation was received.
Rohtak Divisional Commissioner Pankaj Yadav said the Dera head had been granted a furlough from February 7 to 27. A furlough is a brief and conditional release from jail granted in the case of long-term imprisonment.
