The Gauhati High Court has rejected the bail plea of former IPS officer Raunak Ali Hazarika following the last chargesheet submitted to the court by CMSVC (Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell).
In the month of October last year, the former IPS officer was arrested by the CMs vigilance team led by SP Rosie Kalita in his connection of a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
The rejection of the bail plea comes after a week of the submission of the final charge sheet regarding the disproportionate assets case by the CM’s Vigilance Cell of Assam Police.
The final supplementary charge sheet in relation to the particular case was submitted before the court by CMs Vigilance Cell a week ago on 24 January 2022.
In a new development of the case, the Vigilance cell has pointed out two other names in connection with the case. The new names included the family members of Hazarika.
The final charge sheet of the DA case has a total of 156 pages describing the instances for which the accused IPS officer is slapped with several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He also holds charges under the Official Secrets Acts and Prevention of Corruption Act.
