Bihar steps up vigilance in West Champaran after floods in Nepal.

Following floods in Nepal, vigilance has been stepped up in Bihar’s border district of West Champaran.

Although the impact of this rise on Bihar is expected to be negligible. District Magistrate Tarnjot Singh said that a significant rise in the water level of the Gandak River is not expected in the district.

However, an alert has been issued for low-lying areas as a precautionary measure.

According to the District Magistrate, the water level at Kali Kola, upstream of Devghat in Nepal, has risen by only 50 centimetres. He added the water level at Kali Kola in Nepal has started receding.
