Keralam begins exports under India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.

The India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement coming into force is expected to bring significant benefits to Keralam as well. Consignments availing the benefits of the agreement has already started from Keralam on the very first day itself.

With a large Malayali diaspora residing in the United Kingdom, the new agreement is expected to provide a major boost to food processing industries in Keralam.

Since a substantial share of the state’s food industry comprises MSMEs, the benefits of the agreement are likely to reach a wider section of entrepreneurs.

Other key sectors in Keralam that are expected to benefit from the agreement include seafood, textiles, and footwear.

On the very first day the agreement came into force, the first seafood consignments to avail of its benefits were dispatched from Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. These shipments mark the beginning of exports from Keralam under the India-UK trade agreement.
