Tripura. Major crackdown on illegal logging and timber smuggling.

In Tripura, the Sub-Divisional Forest Department in Khowai district has achieved a major success in its ongoing crackdown on illegal logging and timber smuggling.

The department conducted a series of raids across Khowai subdivision over the past two days, seizing around 220 cubic feet of illegally felled timber and four vehicles used for transportation. Tree-cutting machinery used in the illicit activities was also confiscated

Sub-Divisional Forest Officer Susmita Das said that illegal timber worth nearly seven lakh rupees was recovered during the two-day operation. Four cases have been registered under relevant provisions of the Forest Act, and investigations are underway.

The Forest Department has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting forest resources and continuing strict action against illegal logging and timber smuggling in the region.
