In Jammu and Kashmir, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Singpura area of Chatroo in Kishtwar district today.

The correspondent reports that the exchange of fire began during an ongoing joint search operation launched by the security forces following inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.

The encounter started when the security forces zeroed in on suspected hideouts, prompting the terrorists to open fire. The exchange of fire is still continuing with additional forces inducted to reinforce the cordon. Further details are awaited.

In a post on X, the White Knight Corps said security forces came in contact with terrorists in the general area Sonnar, northeast of Chatroo, during a deliberate search operation conducted as part of ongoing joint counter-terror exercises along with Jammu and Kashmir Police
