The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the Southwest monsoon has further advanced into parts of Punjab, Rajasthan, and Haryana.
It said the conditions are favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon over the remaining parts of the country during the next 3 to 4 days. IMD also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Kerala, Mahe, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Gujarat till tomorrow.
The weather agency further said that rainfall is also expected in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal today.
Meanwhile, hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura till tomorrow. In the western region, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over the Konkan, Goa, ghat areas of central Maharashtra, and Gujarat until July 3. Light/moderate rainfall at many places is likely over the region.
The IMD said isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan until July 2. Very heavy rainfall has been predicted over Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana on June 29.
The weather department said, isolated heavy rainfall over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Jharkhand until July 2; West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar till June 30. Light/moderate rainfall at many places accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning & gusty winds with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph is likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha until July 1.
In the northeast, light/moderate rainfall at most places along with thunderstorms, lightning, and isolated heavy rainfall is expected to continue over the region until July 3. Very heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh on June 30.
The IMD said isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu till June 28. Strong surface winds (speed reaching 40-60 kmph) are very likely over Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, and Telangana from June 27 to 29.
