President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President and PM extend greetings on Saint Ravidas Jayanti today.

Ravidas Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas, is being celebrated across the country today. Sant Ravidas was a 14th century saint and founder of Bhakti movement in North India.

It is celebrated on Magh Purnima, which is the full moon day of the Magh month as per Hindu calendar. On this day, Devotees gather at Sri Guru Ravidas Janam Asthan Mandir, Seer Goverdhanpur in Varanasi, to celebrate his anniversary.

President Droupadi Murmu has greeted fellow-citizens on the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas. In a social media, the President said, Guru Ravidas ji made service to humanity his goal. She said, He remained dedicated to eradicating discrimination on the basis of religion and caste and bringing unity in the society.

President Murmu called upon everyone to adopt the teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji and continue to contribute in building a prosperous and developed nation.

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar extended wishes to countrymen on the Birth Anniversary of Sant Ravidas. In a social media post, the Vice-President said that the great saint, poet and social reformer Guru Ravidas ji, had envisioned a casteless society.

Mr. Dhankhar added, his ideals inspire the country to build social unity and an egalitarian nation. The Vice-President urged people to follow Guru Ravidas’s path and contribute to making India stronger. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tribute to Saint Guru Ravidas on his birth anniversary today. In a social media post, the Prime Minister said, that Saint Guru Ravidas dedicated his life to eradicating discrimination from society. Mr. Modi added that his messages filled with the spirit of service, harmony and brotherhood will always remain a guide for the welfare of weak and deprived sections of society.
