Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that various initiatives and welfare measures of the government have helped to lift 25 crore people out of poverty during the last nine years. He said this proved the efficacy of the government policies and schemes and indicated that they were on the right track.
Mr Modi was addressing the BJP Shaktikendra incharges at the Marine Drive in Kochi this afternoon. He said, today, the world looks upon India as a global friend, and this is evident from the opportunities offered to Indians and the high esteem with which they are regarded in the Gulf countries.
The Prime Minister said the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) is aimed at ensuring that no one should be left out of the benefits that accrue out of the welfare schemes initiated by the union government. He urged the party workers to intensify the drive to bring those left out, to places where VBSY programmes are held.
Earlier, the Prime Minister dedicated to the nation, three port-related infrastructure projects built at a cost of over 4000 crore rupees at a function held at Willingdon Island.
