The President’s Secretariat in Pakistan has asked Election Commission to propose dates for holding general elections within ninety days from the date of dissolution of the National Assembly.
The development comes after the National Assembly deputy speaker threw out a no-confidence motion against Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan and the president dissolved the lower house of Parliament on 3rd April. Earlier local media reported that the electoral body was unable to hold polls within three months, citing various legal hitches and procedural challenges.
