Bolivian authorities have seized nearly 8.8 tons of cocaine in the Oruro region in the west of the country, officials said.
It is estimated that the value of the drug is about 224 million dollars, and its destination was the Netherlands.
Bolivian government minister Eduardo del Castillo said that eight tons and 776 kilograms of cocaine were seized, and that the drug was hidden in wooden panels used in the construction industry, Bolivian media portal “La Razon” reported.
He added that four people were arrested in connection with this case, three of whom are citizens of Bolivia and one of Colombia.
Del Castillo said more people were involved, but did not provide details because the investigation is ongoing.
The plates were exported by the company “Maeksa SRL”, whose owner is Danijel L.J. already taken into custody.
