Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Zainul Abedin Farroque urged the Chief Adviser of Interim Government Prof Yunus to immediately issue letters to two advisers and the National Security Adviser, requesting their resignation from the advisory council, reports the Daily Star, a leading local newspaper.
“You were appointed to facilitate the election. Nine months have passed, yet there is no sign of an election schedule. Under whose influence the election is being delayed? That’s why our party was compelled to say: the three advisers must resign.” he said, while speaking at a protest rally in front of the Jatiya Press Club, Dhaka on Friday morning.
Farroque said that the absence of an election roadmap has fueled public suspicion and political instability. He stressed that the BNP would not take responsibility for this instability.
“You cannot blame us. Because we are the ones asking you for an election. Carry out reforms, but do not undertake such a reform through which a corridor will be created, and the Chattogram Port will fall into others’ hands”, the Daily Star quoted Farroque.
He said that a climate of unrest is increasingly visible across the country.
