As many as 20 districts, including Chandpur, Brahmanbaria, and Naogaon, have so far been hit with the worsening flood situation across Bangladesh and many more areas might be inundated if the situation does not improve soon, said Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC).
According to the bulletin issued with data till Thursday, the situation may further worsen in Kurigram, Gaibandha, Natore, Bogra, Jamalpur, Sirajganj, Tangail, and Naogaon in the next 24 hours and the rising trend in water level of Brahmaputra and Jamuna will continue for the next 72 hours.
Meanwhile, the flood situation in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Brahmanbaria, Netrokona, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Faridpur, Madaripur, Chandpur, Rajbari, Shariatpur, and Dhaka may remain unchanged.
Moreover, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecasts that heavy to very heavy rainfall will occur all over the country in the next 24 hours, which will contribute to raising the water level of rivers further.
However, Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions may face less rainfall compared to the past few days, added BMD.
