In Uttar Pradesh, Govardhan puja is being celebrated with immense fervour all over the state, especially in Mathura-Vrindavan area, where followers of Lord Krishna have gathered in large numbers.
Akashvani correspondent reports, that Foreigners, locals as well as tourists and pilgrims from all over the country are worshipping lord Krishna at various temples of Mathura Vrindavan and performing ”parikrama” of sacred hillock Govardhan. Devotees are offering lavish chhappan bhog to the god and making a mountain of food, called Annakoot.
People also decorate their cows on this occasion and worship them. It’s a tradition to offer jaggery and rice to the cows on this occasion. In some temples Govardhan puja was celebrated yesterday also.
A grand function was held at Dwarkadhish Temple yesterday while in many temples Govardhan puja is being celebrated today. In Bundelkhand area famous lathmar Diwali was also celebrated yesterday.
