The four-day international Lavi Fair, symbolizing Indo-Tibetan trade relations, began today in Rampur, located in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla formally inaugurated the fair. On the occasion, he remarked that the Lavi Fair has maintained its identity as a trade fair for centuries and is now emerging as a major cultural festival for the state.
The Governor highlighted how cultural troupes from different states showcase the diverse cultures of India on one platform, exemplifying the spirit of unity in diversity. The Lavi Fair is known for its sale of woollen garments and dry fruits, which attract a large number of buyers.
Meanwhile, the five-day international Shri Renuka Ji Fair in Sirmaur district also commenced today. The fair, symbolizing the mother-son reunion, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who carried the palanquin of Lord Parshuram.
As per tradition, the palanquins of deities were welcomed along the banks of the Giri River. During the grand procession, the banks of the river resounded with chants in praise of Goddess Renuka and Lord Parshuram, accompanied by the beats of traditional drums and instruments.
