The fifth batch comprising 7208 pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp in Jammu for the Kashmir valley this morning.
The pilgrims left the base camp in a cavalcade of 307 vehicles early this morning. The batch included 5258 Men, 1587 Women, 30 Children, 277 Sadhus & 56 sadhvis.
Of these 3199 pilgrims left for the Baltal base camp and 4009 for Pahalgam base camp from where they will proceed for their further journey to the holy cave shrine.
The first pilgrim convoy carrying 3,199 pilgrims in 147 vehicles left for the shorter but steeper 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district followed by second convoy of 4,009 pilgrims in 160 vehicles who are undertaking the yatra from the 48-km traditional Pahalgam route in Anantnag district, the officials said.
With this, a total of 31,736 pilgrims have left the Jammu base camp for the valley.
