The Yamunotri Dham is scheduled to open on April 30, along with Gangotri Dham, which will also welcome devotees on the same day. The doors of Shri Kedarnath Dham will reopen on May 2, and Shri Badrinath Dham on May 4, according to the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC).
Preparations are underway to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasised the Yatra’s importance to the state’s economy and said the government is fully committed to a safe and smooth pilgrimage.
BKTC officials have been inspecting various temple sites and facilities ahead of the Yatra. The Char Dham Yatra, one of the most significant Hindu pilgrimages, includes Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The journey follows a traditional clockwise route starting from Yamunotri and ending at Badrinath.
TENTATIVE DATES.
The high-altitude Char Dham portion and the temples of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri will opened after the Akshaya Tritiya celebrations. Check out 2025 dates below!
- Kedarnath Temple: Opening on May 2, 2025 at 7 am concurrent with Akshaya Tritiya
- Badrinath Temple: Agate opening on May 4, 2025 at 6 am.
- Gangotri Temple: Opening Shrine target date May 10, 2025.
- Yamunotri Temple: Target Yokai Maya Day May 10, 2025 marks start Akshaya Tritiya celebrations.
Basant Panchami festival is also regarded as the starting point of spring in India. Celebration days are set with respect to each temple committee as well as their preists and so these decisions are based on logic, tradition and heaven for the devotees while accompany the temple visit.
REGISTRATION NOW OPEN.
With an aim to control the large surge of pilgrims and ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience, both online and offline registration for the Char Dham Yatra has already been opened.
The registration is being managed by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB). Devotees can register on the official website of Char Dham or download the Tourist Care Uttarakhand mobile application which is available on Android and iOS.
ALL THAT PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW.
- All pilgrims are required to register.
- An individual registration is required for each pilgrim alongside having a valid ID proof.
- Post successful registration, a Yatra pass needs to be carried during the visit.
- It is strongly advised by the government that pilgrims should register as early as possible and book their accommodation in advance due to the high occupancy levels during the peak season.
SAFETY AND PRECAUTIONS TO MAINTAIN.
Considering the unpredictable weather conditions and the challenging terrain of the Himalayas, there has been bolstered endeavor from the state government to improve infrastructure such as more accessible roads, additional medical services, and increased accommodation, specifically aimed at the devotees.
Authorities have also implemented the following.
- Disaster and healthcare emergency response teams are on standby.
- Enhanced helicopter availability for VIP and emergency evacuation situations.
- Setting up weather monitoring systems at strategic locations on the pilgrimage route.
- Pilgrims with pre existing medical conditions, as well as seniors, are encouraged to seek medical attention prior to commencing the yatra.
