Russia, Ukraine fail to achieve any breakthrough in talks; Putin says sanctions on Russia will disrupt food, energy markets

Russia President Vladimir Putin has said that sanctions on Russia will disrupt global food and energy markets. Talking to a TV channel, he said Western sanctions on Moscow have begun to hurt the United States and Europe. Blaming the West sky-rocketing energy prices, Putin said, Russia continues to export oil and gas, including through conflict-torn Ukraine.

He said Russia is respecting all its obligations in terms of energy supplies. He also warned that the Western sanctions could send global food prices soaring, as Russia is one of the world’s main producers of fertiliser.
