Kiran Bedi removed as Puducherry LG; Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan given additional charge

Dr. Kiran Bedi has been removed from the post of Puducherry Lieutenant Governor. In a press communiqué, Rashtrapati Bhawan said, Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has been given additional charge as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.

Meanwhile, the V. Narayanasamy led Congress government has been reduced to minority with the resignation of a Congress MLA. Mr. John Kumar elected from Kamaraj Nagar constituency resigned yesterday.

Meanwhile, Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy claimed that his government still enjoys a majority. Today, with the resignation of the Congress legislator John Kumar, the strength of both the ruling side and Opposition has become equal with 14 members each.

Talking to news persons after a party consultation meeting, Chief Minister Narayanasamy said that he would function as per the provisions enlisted in the Constitution.

Deputy Speaker MNR Balan said that they are ready to prove majority on the floor of the house. Government Whip Anantharaman and Welfare Minister Kandadamy said that there are some members in the Opposition who do not want the government to be toppled and they will support the government on the floor of the house.

Meanwhile, DMK (South) Convener MLA R Siva told news persons that the DMK will continue its support to the government to complete the five-year term.
