In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces today recovered arms and ammunition that were dropped by a drone in the border area Samba district. The security personnel launched a search operation in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district following intelligence reports of material being dropped by drone during the night.
During the search, three pistols and other ammunition were recovered. BSF and police have been placed on alert, and search operations have been intensified in the area.
According to officials, a search operation was launched following a tip-off regarding suspected drone movement in the Mallu Chack area.
“On hearing the humming sound of the drone coming from the Pak side, security personnel fired some rounds towards the direction of the humming sound and pushed the drone back to the Pak side,” officials said.
Earlier, exercising strict vigilance, Border Security Force recovered one small drone alongwith a packet of suspected narcotics in Tarn Taran district on Sunday.
According to BSF, the search culminated at about 08:10 am with the successful recovery of one small drone along with one packet of suspected heroin (Gross weight- 536 Grams) from the premises of Radha Swami Satsang, adjacent to village- Naushera Dhalla in district Tarn Taran.
A case has been registered under Sections 113(3)/149 BNS and 7/25 Arms Act at Ramgarh police station.
Further investigation is underway, officials added.
