In Jammu & Kashmir, the Army’s Operation Margi in the Lolab forest area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district has concluded successfully with the elimination of one terrorist.
The identity of the slain terrorist is being ascertained. The Army’s Chinar Corps spokesperson said that one AK-47 rifle, two hand grenades, four AK magazines, ammunition, and other war-like stores were recovered from the encounter site. The anti-terror operation had been in progress in the Margi forest area since late last evening.
Based on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants, a cordon and search operation was launched by security forces during the night in Margi area of Lolab in the north Kashmir district, they said.
Officials said contact was established with the militants and a firefight began. Exchange of fire was going on and the operation is in progress, the officials added.
Another operation, Operation Kaitsan, is under way at Bandipora. One terrorist has been eliminated by security officials in the ongoing firefight.
