Army stops major infiltration attempt on LoC in Keri sector of Rajouri district.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Army on Friday foiled a major infiltration attempt on the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keri sector of the Rajouri district after a brief shootout.

Government reports state that after the infiltration bid the army has launched massive search operations in the area to track down the terrorists. A routine patrol party of the Army came under fire from the forests near the LoC in the Keri sector of Rajouri district yesterday and the troops immediately took positions and fired back.

More troops rushed to the spot and the area is under strict surveillance. Search operations have been intensified but there was no fresh firing till late last evening. Anti-Infiltration Grid was strengthened along the LoC to ensure that the terrorists don’t manage to sneak in again.

The infiltration attempt by the terrorists has been foiled but the number of the terrorists couldn’t be ascertained immediately. Due to very little snowfall this winter, troops have been anticipating early infiltration attempts by the terrorists in the hilly areas and have accordingly braced themselves up to foil all such bids. More details are awaited.
