Uttarakhand. Large-scale relief, rescue operations on in Harsil and Dharali regions, Uttarkashi.

In the aftermath of the recent disaster in Harsil and Dharali regions of Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, large-scale relief and rescue operations are underway. Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan has directed all agencies involved to work in close coordination and divide the affected areas into sectors to ensure faster and more effective relief efforts.

Inspector General of SDRF, Arun Mohan Joshi, has been appointed as the nodal officer for the ongoing operations. Since the devastating disaster on August 5, over 1,100 people have been safely rescued. Among them, 480 individuals were evacuated yesterday from Harsil and Nelang and relocated to Jolly Grant, Matli, and Chinyalisaur.

Helicopters from the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) and the Indian Army have conducted a total of 257 sorties to aid in the rescue efforts.

Meanwhile, power supply in the Harsil valley has been restored. Regular supply of diesel and cooking gas to Harsil and Dharali has been ensured, while food supplies are being transported by mules due to road blockages.

Additionally, orders have been issued to send boats to Dharali for the water police to intensify the ongoing search operations. Teams of geologists have also been sent to Uttarkashi and Pauri districts to investigate the causes of the disaster and are expected to submit their report within a week.
