The Uttarakhand government has approved the “Mukhyamantri Ekal Mahila Swarozgar Yojana,” aimed at empowering unmarried, divorced, abandoned, destitute, and differently-abled single women by providing them with financial assistance of up to 2 lakh rupees.
Under this scheme, 75 per cent of the amount will be given as a grant, while beneficiaries will need to contribute only 25 per cent from their side.
In the first phase, the government aims to benefit at least 2,000 women, with a provision to increase the number of beneficiaries based on the scheme’s progress.
Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya described this initiative as an early Women’s Day gift for the women of the state. She emphasized that the scheme is designed to help single women achieve financial independence and self-reliance.
