In Bihar, the state assembly witnessed uproarious scenes today over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and deteriorating law and order situation in the state. As the pandemonium continued, Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav adjourned the House till 2 pm.
During the pandemonium, the opposition and treasury benches members exchanged verbal duels. Amid the pandemonium, the Speaker repeatedly asked all members, including Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Ministers Prem Kumar and Jibesh Kuma,r to allow to run the House but in vain Earlier, when the House assembled at 11 am for the day, opposition members attired in black dress started to protest over SIR and law and order situation.
The Speaker expressed his displeasure over yesterday’s event during the opposition protest and scuffle with Vidhan Sabha staff and security personnel. He said that it is against the decorum of the House and the spirit of the Constitution.
Leader of the opposition, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, raised the issue of SIR and said the timing of the drive is not appropriate when people are grappling with floods in the state. The RJD leader said the 11 types of documents asked by the Election Commission of India for Special Intensive Revision are not justifiable.
The RJD leader said that poor people do not have such documents, and the ECI has kept documents like the Aadhaar, Ration Card and MGNREGA out of purview. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was present during the chaotic scenes.
He said the state is going to elections, so all parties should go to their respective constituencies, and people will decide. The Chief Minister said that SIR is not an issue. During his speech, RJD member Bhai Birendra made some comments which irked the Speaker. Members from the treasury benches, including ministers, also opposed the comment and started slogans.
He asked RJD members to apologise for his alleged non-parliamentary comments, but they refused. As the commotion continued, the Speaker adjourned the House till 2 pm.
