Union Minister of State for Education and BJP state president Dr Sukanta Majumdar visited the Waqf Amendment Act-related violence-hit villages of Samshergunj in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal today.
Dr. Majumdar assured the villagers of the Border Security Force (BSF) camps in the areas. He also visited the family of deceased Hargobinda Das and Chandan Das at Jafrabad. Hargobinda Das and Chandan Das were killed by an unruly mob on 12th April.
Police had arrested four persons in this connection. Villagers demanded an NIA investigation into the incident of Murshidabad in the name of protest against the Waqf Amendment Act.
Dr Majumdar informed the villagers that he would convey the demands of the violence-affected villagers to the Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah. He criticised the state government and the ruling Trinamool Congress for the incident at Samsherganj.
