In Tripura, at least seven people have lost their lives due to the landslides or drowning triggered by heavy rainfall in last two days. The normal life has also been severely affected with vehicular traffic disrupted due to the incessant rain. A vast low lying areas including cropping fields have been inundated due to water logging.
Having confirmed the death of seven lives, the state revenue secretary Brijesh Pandey today said that the widespread rainfall across the state in last 48 hours has resulted in flood-like situation across different parts of the state. Due to swelling in water levels of rivers Howrah, Gomati, Khowai and Muhuri houses flood water has entered into the houses on the embankments and those in low-lying areas.
Talking to media at the civil secretariat the Revenue Secretary said that the Chief Minister who is in Delhi for official engagement has reviewed the flood situation on regular basis.
The state government has set up 183 relief camps across the state; the highest being in West Tripura with 24. He said respective district administrations and line departments are working round the clock to provide assistance to the flood affected families.
Dry ration, medicines and fruits are being provided to the people who have been shifted to the relief camps, he added.
