West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee has said, on the Bangladesh issue, her party will support the central government. She expressed concern over the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh and adding that atrocities on minorities are condemnable. She said this while participating in a question answer session in the Bidhan Sabha today.
On Waqf (Amendment) bill, Ms Mamata said, centre did not take any initiative to discuss with the states before introducing the bill in the Parliament.
She said, if the bill becomes an act then Waqf will have no existence. Replying to a question she informed that 155 cases related to Waqf in the state are sub judice.
She also informed that no Waqf property has been transferred during her tenure. The Chief Minister said that many government lands have been encroached in West Bengal. 970 commercial pilot licences have been issued to women during the last three years.
