Sikkim to Host International Youth Conclave Celebrating 50 Years of Statehood.

In Sikkim, the International Youth Conclave is all set to kick off tomorrow at Yanggang Helipad in the Namchi district. The three-day event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang. The event is being organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Sikkim. The conclave will highlight Sikkim’s commitment to sustainable tourism and cultural preservation, showcasing its remarkable journey over the past five decades.

Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly Raj Kumari Thapa said that with participants from across the country along with from Bhutan, Iran and Nepal, this landmark event will bring together youth leaders, tourism experts and global delegates to explore the future of tourism development and its role in shaping the region’s growth. Government bodies, key stakeholders, and the Yangang Tourism Development Committee (YTDC) are preparing to welcome participants.

Under the central theme, “Celebrating Sikkim’s 50 Years of Statehood”, the conclave will provide an in-depth look into the State’s tourism evolution, opportunities, and challenges. It will also spotlight emerging destinations like Yangang, positioning them for future growth through targeted tourism infrastructure projects supported by the Union Ministry of Tourism.

General Secretary, YTDC Rinzing Dorjee Bhutia informed that the conclave will have engaging activities and expert-led discussions. It will also feature a dynamic line-up of activities including heritage walks & cultural rallies, panel discussions & interactive sessions with tourism experts, on-site talks by industry professionals, and cultural exchange programs & local tourism excursions. Delegates will engage in discussions on sustainable tourism strategies, focusing on preserving local culture, heritage, and environmental integrity while fostering economic growth.
