In Uttarakhand, efforts are in full swing to restore normalcy in rain and landslide-affected districts of the state.
The worst-hit areas-Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Tehri-are witnessing large-scale relief and rescue operations as authorities work round the clock to stabilise the situation.
Yesterday, five people lost their lives while 11 are reported to be missing after heavy rainfall in the Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Bageshwar districts. In Rudraprayag’s Basukedar tehsil, over 200 people have been safely rescued and relocated since yesterday following heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, 25 days after the devastating landslide hit Dharali on 5th of this month, the Gangotri Highway has been partially reopened for traffic between Uttarkashi and Harsil. Full restoration is expected soon, which will help speed up the delivery of essential supplies and ongoing rescue efforts.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a fresh warning for heavy rain across several parts of the state today. All districts have been placed on high alert as a precaution.
