With a single day spike of 1018 new cases in a single day, Assam’s tally of positive COVID-19 cases rose to 23,999 on Sunday.
State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that of the 1018 new coronavirus cases, 577 Cases were from Guwahati City alone. Assam now has 23999 cases, 7039 active cases.
Meanwhile, good news for the north-eastern states as the COVID-19 fatality rates of NE states were among country’s lowest.
The Centre on Sunday said India has one of the lowest fatality rates in the world with four northeastern states of Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Sikkim having zero case fatality rate (CFR).
Assam has a CFR of 0.23 percent.
According to Health Ministry data, the northeastern states have less than one per cent CFR. Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Tripura have a CFR of 0.46 percent, 0.48 percent and 0.19 percent respectively.
