Polling Underway for Patna University Students Union Elections.

In Bihar, polling is underway in peaceful manner for Patna University Students Union Election at 40 different polling booths set up at various college campuses. More than 19,000 voters will decide the fate of 37 candidates contesting for the post of President, Vice President, General Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer for the central panel.


Several student outfits of mainstream political parties including BJP student outfit ABVP and Congress frontal organisation NSUI, are taking part in the elections. Candidates of Left party students wing like AISF and AISA and RJD student outfit Chatra RJD are also contesting students union elections.

Ruling JD(U) student wing which had performed very well in previous elections is not contesting this time. Talking to Akashvani News, Chief Election Officer of Patna University Students Union, Professor Rajneesh Kumar, said special security arrangements have been made at sensitive booths. He said the counting of votes will be held today after the voting this evening.  

Patna University Students Union (PUSU) has produced stalwarts of politics like Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, Lok Sabha member and former union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.
