Manipur. Security Forces Recover Arms Ammunition In Bishnupur.

In Manipur, a combined team of security forces conducted a search operation in Bishnupur district today. Arms and ammunition, including one SLR rifle with one magazine, one 303 rifle, seven hand grenades, two tube launchers and one grenade arming ring, have been recovered during the operation. The seized items have been handed over to Nambol Police Station for further investigation.

The operation, carried out under the jurisdiction of Hiyanglam Police Station, involved combined teams from the Commando Unit Kakching, 5/9 Gorkha Rifles, 33 Assam Rifles, 126 Battalion BSF, and Hiyanglam Police. The search, which lasted from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM, was supervised by Thokchom Vikramjit Singh, Superintendent of Police, Kakching District.


During the operation, security forces uncovered various weapons, including a Sten MkV Rifle with two magazines, two 12 Bore Single Barrel Rifles, two 9mm Pistols with magazines, nine hand grenades, one stun grenade, four arming rings, four tube launchers, eight 9mm live rounds, three 12 bore live cartridges, two 12 bore fired cartridges, eighteen 7.62mm explosive cartridges, ten 7.62mm SLR fired cartridges, and ten 7.62mm AK fired cartridges. A case has been registered at Hiyanglam Police Station, and further investigations are currently underway.


In a related development, Manipur Police recently apprehended a cadre of the proscribed KCP (Taibangnganba) outfit in Elangkhanpokpi, Kakching District. The arrested individual, identified as 29-year-old Koijam Uperjit Singh, was reportedly involved in extortion activities across Kakching, Imphal West, and Thoubal districts.


In another operation, security forces detained two cadres of the banned KYKL outfit at the Wangjing Heirok crossing in Thoubal District. The suspects, identified as Narengbam Gobin Singh (37) and Moirangmayum Romantic, also known as Prem (27), were found in possession of a 9mm pistol with a magazine, an SMG carbine with a magazine, a mobile phone with a SIM card, five live rounds of ammunition, and a four-wheeler vehicle from Sangaiyumpham, Thoubal District.


In a statement released by the Manipur Police Control Room, authorities detailed a major operation launched in the areas of Langoljam Kangjeibung, Kamong, Leimaram, Irengbam, and Heinoubok in Bishnupur District. This operation, which followed the arrest of four KCP (PWG) cadres on Monday, led to the discovery of a KCP (PWG) shelter in Kamong. Security forces seized six four-wheeler vehicles and various military items, including combat dress, boots, belts, sleeping bags, blankets, bulletproof vests, helmets, cooking utensils, and dishes.


The search for additional suspects in the area is ongoing. In a separate search operation in Sangaiyumpham, Thoubal District, security forces recovered six live rounds of ammunition and eight spent casings. The operations reflect the ongoing efforts of Manipur’s security forces to curb insurgency and maintain law and order in the state.
