Maharashtra witnesses heavy rainfall, high wave warning issued for coastal areas.

Almost all parts of Maharashtra are witnessing moderate to extremely heavy showers since morning. A high wave warning has been issued for the coastal areas of Thane, Mumbai Suburban, Mumbai City, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg, with waves ranging from 3.5 to 3.8 metres expected to hit the coast until 11:30 tonight.

               Mandangad and Khed tehsils in coastal Ratnagiri district are witnessing incessant rainfall, with the Jagbudi river crossing the danger mark and flooding the marketplace in Khed city.

Extremely heavy rainfall lashed Nashik city and rural areas today, with flooded rivers and streams cutting off access to many villages in the district. In Ojhar, a person was swept away while fishing. Excessive rainfall has damaged houses in Nashik city and Surgana.

The Godavari river is in spate, with Gangapur dam currently at 50% capacity. Daily life has been disrupted in Satara district due to heavy rainfall, with dams filling rapidly. Dhule district is also witnessing continuous rain since morning, bringing relief to farmers in the region.

Most parts of Jalna district are under thick cloud cover with intermittent showers. The IMD has issued a red alert for Palghar, Nashik and Pune, while an orange alert has been issued for Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Satara for today.
