In Maharashtra, Lakhs of devotees bid adieu to their 5 day long Ganapati yesterday. The eco-friendly Ganesh, installed at the residence of Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan was immersed in an artificial pond at Raj Bhavan.
The Ganesh idol installed at Raj Bhavan was made of clay. It was created by an inmate of the Nashik Central prison.
In Mumbai, more than 38 thousand Ganesh idols were immersed after 5 days Ganesh Festival. Out of which more than 37 thousand were household and more than 1 thousand were of Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandal.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has created artificial ponds and lakes for immersions. Ganesh festival in Maharashtra goes upto 10 days with final immersion on day of Anant Chaturdashi.
