The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the following.
Extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha today. Parts of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Karnataka, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and north-eastern states are also likely to witness heavy rainfall during the next 2-3 days. IMD further predicted thundersquall in parts of Madhya Pradesh today.
Meanwhile, rain lashed Delhi-NCR last evening, bringing much-needed respite from the scorching summer heat. The National Capital and the adjoining NCR region are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall till Saturday.
The MeT Department has issued a yellow alert for moderate rainfall and thunderstorms across the region for the next five days.
Under the influence of two Low Pressure Area formed over south Gujarat & neighbourhood and over southwest Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal, heavy to very heavy rainfall with severe thunderstroms and lightning is very likely over Saurashtra & Kutch, Gujarat region and over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand with extremely heavy raifnall over Saurashtra & Kutch during next 24 hours., IMD added.
