Heavy Rains Disrupt Life in Madhya Pradesh. Indian Army Rushes for Rescue ops. in Guna distt. Red Alert Issued.

Life in Madhya Pradesh is affected due to continuous rain. Bhopal, Raisen and Guna districts are the most affected. Army’s help is also being taken in rescue operations in Guna.

Akashvani’s correspondent reports that more than 10 inches of rain recorded in Guna in a day, after which many parts of the city are flooded. Army and SDRF teams have been called for rescue operations.

Many colonies and roads have been submerged after 7 inches of rain in Bhopal . Raisen, Vidisha districts have been received 6 inches of rain. Gates of all major dams including Tawa and Omkareshwar Dam have been opened.

The Met  Department has issued a red alert for very heavy rain in Raisen, Narmadapuram and Harda districts today.  Also heavy rain warning  issued for Bhopal, Vidisha, Sehore, Rajgarh, Betul, Khandwa, Dewas, Shajapur and Guna districts.

Several people, including school children, were stranded in Shivpuri due to rising water levels. The situation worsened in Guna, where a culvert bridge collapsed and roads were cut off, affecting connectivity to Rajasthan, according to the PTI.

The Army was deployed from Jhansi late on Tuesday night to assist in relief operations in Shivpuri. Over 250 people were shifted to safer locations in Kolaras, while 100 more were reported trapped. Around 30 school children were also stranded in Pachavali village.

Major Shivam Ganguly, who is leading the Army’s efforts, said teams are working in different areas and a medical unit is on the ground to help.

In Guna, residents of eight villages were advised to move to safer places after damage to the Kalora Dam. Villages including Singapur, Tumda, and Bandha are among the worst affected, as per the PTI.

MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav monitored the situation from the Home Guard Flood Disaster Centre in Bhopal. He assured full government support for the victims, including food, shelter, and clothing.

“We will not tolerate any negligence. Our soldiers and officials are doing great work. The rains may continue for the next two to four days, and we are alerting people across the state,” he said.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for the next 24 hours in several districts, including Bhopal, Vidisha, Shivpuri, Raisen, and Narmadapuram, predicting 8-9 inches of rain.

Helicopters have been requested from the Defence Ministry for two of the worst-hit districts to support ongoing relief work.
