Heavy rain and snowfall continue to disrupt normal life in Himachal Pradesh. More than 200 roads across the state remain blocked due to landslides and snow accumulation, while over 250 electricity transformers have stopped functioning. The maximum temperature has dropped by 4 to 5 degrees Celsius.
The relentless heavy rain and snowfall have severely affected normal life. Several incidents of landslides have occurred in the state, and glacier slippage has also been reported in tribal regions. In the Kumar Panchayat of the Pangi area of Chamba district, three people narrowly escaped being swept away by a glacier, with one sustaining serious injuries.
A house is also damaged in this incident. Pangi Valley has received more than three and a half feet of fresh snowfall, while the popular tourist destination Manali has recorded about one foot of snow. In Kullu district, a cloudburst in Pehanala has buried several vehicles under debris, and rising water from the Sarvari River has flooded a local parking area, trapping multiple vehicles.
The tribal areas of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Pangi, Bharmour, and Dodra Kwar have been completely cut off from the rest of the world. Additionally, continuous rainfall has significantly raised water levels in rivers and streams. Authorities have appealed to people to take precautions and stay away from riverbanks. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain and snowfall across the state tonight as well.
