Govt spent Rs 900 cr. to resettle Bru inhabitants in different districts of Tripura, says Home Minister Amit Shah.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid foundation stone of 13 projects for Tripura worth 668.39 crore rupees on Sunday.

Speaking at a public meeting at the Masurai Para in Dhalai district of the state, Mr. Shah criticized the former Communist party government in the state for not addressing the issue of settlement of the Bru community. He said, after the BJP led government came to power in 2018, the settlement of 40,000 people from the Bru community was taken to its logical end.

He said the communists called themselves as the messiah of poor but could not see the pain of the people from Bru community.

He said the Government spent 900 crore rupees to settle the Bru inhabitants in eleven villages in different districts of the state.

Mr. Shah said the people from the Bru community suffered grave pain as they were deprived from clean drinking water, no power connection, no primary education, lack of healthcare facilities among other things. He added that after their settlement, the bru community inhabitants are receiving pure drinking water, power connection, good education, employment and toilets in their houses.
