Gadchiroli District In Maharashtra Hit By Continuous Downpour For Past 4 Days.

In Maharashtra, Gadichiroli district in East Vidarbha is facing continuous downpour for last 4 days. Water level in four rivers of the district is continuously on the rise. Due to flooding in the rivers and canals, 33 routes in Gadchiroli have been closed.

The Regional Metrological Department of Nagpur has declared Orange alert of heavy to very heavy rain in the district. The District Magistrate has declared holiday for all schools and colleges in the district today.

There is yellow alert of rain for all districts in Vidarbha today.

Meanwhile, Gadchiroli collector Sanjay Daine declared holiday for schools and other educational institutions. The administration has also issued warning to people residing in and around catchment areas of rivers like Vainganga, Wardha, Godavari and Indravati.

The administration, which asked officials to make public announcements for awareness, had also issued warning about further rise in level of rivers due to the opening of the Gosikhurd project gates.The Gadchiroli-Armori road was flooded due to the overflowing Pal river. The district headquarter was cut off from Chamorshi taluka too after flooding of Sewni river and Govindpur nullah.
