Electoral process begins for Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh and Mizoram with issuance of Notification.

In Chhattisgarh, the election process began today with the issuing of notifications for the first phase of polls for assembly elections. With the issuing of notification, the filing of nominations begins in 20 assembly constituencies. The last date of filing of nomination will be 21st October, scrutiny of nominations will take place on 26th October and the last date of withdrawal of nomination will be 23rd October.

Akashwani correspondent reports that in the first phase, a total twenty assembly constituencies in the most Maoist-affected region of Chhattisgarh will go to polls on 07th November, this includes all the 12 constituencies of Bastar division.

Chhattisgarh Assembly has 90 seats. The notification for the elections in the rest of the 70 constituencies in the second phase will be issued on the 21st of October. 

With the gazette notification issued by the Election Commission of India calling upon all the Assembly Constituencies in the State of Mizoram to elect members to the Legislative Assembly of the State, the nomination period of candidates for the Assembly elections begins today. The notification said that October 20 will be the last date for filing of nomination.

However, no candidate has filed nomination on the first day of the nomination period in all the 40 Assembly Constituencies across the State.

The gazette notification mentioned that scrutiny of nominations will take place on October 21 while the last date for withdrawal is on October 23. Mizoram will go for polls on November 7 from 7:00 AM till 4:00 PM.
