Deep depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal moves closer to Nagapattinam, Puducherry, and Chennai.

The deep depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal moved north northwestwards and lay centered over the same region early this morning, now moving closer towards Nagapattinam, Puducherry and Chennai.

Presently it is at a distance of 310 km near Nagapattinam, 360 km south east of Puducherry and 400 km southeast of Chennai. According to the Met department, the deep depression is likely to become a cyclonic storm during the next three hours.

It is very likely to move northwards and make a landfall tomorrow afternoon between Mahabalipuram and Karaikal near Puducherry.

The warning also says that during the landfall the windspeed will be between 70 to 80 km per hour gusting upto 90 km per hour.
