Tamil film actor Srikant has been arrested in Chennai in connection with a drug case.

The investigation began after a former AIADMK functionary, Prasad was arrested for drug trafficking. Prasad had allegedly confessed to the Anti Narcotics Intelligence Unit of the Chennai City Police that he supplied drugs including cocaine to Srikanth.

The Nungambakkam Police questioned the actor today and blood samples collected from the Actor tested at Kilpauk Government Hospital reportedly confirmed drug use leading to the arrest under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Srikanth’s arrest came after his name cropped up during the interrogation of Prasad, an administrator of the AIADMK IT wing who was expelled from the party after he was apprehended in connection with a high-profile drug case.

Srikanth, who made his debut in Tamil cinema with his 2002 film Roja Kootam and spread his wings in Telugu cinema as well, was arrested after hours of interrogation. He was taken to the Nungambakkam Police station in the evening for further questioning, police sources said.
