BJP Telangana leaders held ‘Musi Nidra’ (Sleeping at the houses of people) at 20 places across the Musi River area last night. Led by State BJP President and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, leaders have slept in the houses of the poor living in the catchment area of Musi River.
The programme assumes significance as the BJP is opposing the displacement of people who were living for many years on the banks of the Musi River for the proposed Musi Rejuvenation Project on the lines of the Sabarmati project by the state government. Kishan Reddy spent the night and slept at a house in Tulsiram Nagar in his Secunderabad Lok Sabha Constituency.
Rajya Sabha Member Dr K. Laxman spent last night at Old Malakpet, Lok Sabha member Konda Vishweshwar Reddy slept at Hydershakote and another LS member Eatala Rajender slept at Dwaraka Puram Colony. The BJP leaders held this programme at 20 places across the river.
Addressing the gathering after launching the Musi Nidra programme, Kishan Reddy said the state government has been issuing statements saying that it will demolish the houses of the poor living on both sides of the Musi catchment area. He said the BJP instilled confidence among the victims in the last four months that the party will stand by them.
